Alright! C'mon! And yet another young Finnish glam-band released their debut album. The name of the band is strange - Slipping Stitches. The name of the album is beautiful - Melody Cruise. What makes this band so special? From the first steps Slipping Stitches is supported by Michael Monroe the one and the great - it's special, isn't it? Long time prepared album turned out to be interesting, valuable and, what is most unusual for a young band, high-qualitative. The songs are good and the sound quality is good as well. Particularly attractive are the vocals of Cashmire Starz and guitars played by Marty Stitch. They both are also the authors of all the songs on the album. Thanks to their talent and, of course, owing to bass-player Madison Pulse and drummer Lexx Avenue, the sound is deep, solid and passionate. The songs from Melody Cruise catch from the first time you hear them. Every song has its own mood. Worthy of notice is that despite all the songs being about relationships, it's not just miserable "I love you, you don't love me", and that spares the album boredom. Melody Cruise starts with the real glamish call "Alright! C'mon!" and an amazingly attractive song Parasite, seemingly dedicated to an enigmatic lady. "She's a star" and "she's a parasite" are sung with the same admiration :). Songs Not With You and Every Time were created to enjoy Marty's playing. And a ballad Edge of a Dream is… just a beautiful ballad. She's No Angel is not a cover of an amazing Michael Monroe's song, it's their own track. But the pattern is still the same… she's no angel. Well, we all are no angels :). By the way, Slipping Stitches are very brave, they didn't record any covers on a debut album unlike many young bands. That was the right decision, especially when the guys have own songs whish are good enough. Although there's a salt on the album - two bonus tracks - No Privacy and What If I Knew, the songs, which were created long time ago, at the days when the name of the band was Peace of Mind. In return back-vocals on the songs were done my Michael Monroe, and he was also a producer. Let's say Slipping Stitches got consent from the great ones on earth and went through fire and water while recording the album and searching a label with the right name - Glam Productions. And let's wish the four talented guys from Helsinki to become real glam-stars of the 2000's. Melamory |
