Music stores

[FreeRecord Shop]

www.freerecordshop.fi

A well-developed chain of music shops. They always offer you a good range of bands whose albums should be found in any normal modern shop. You are unlikely to find here a Japanese edition of some single released in early 90-s, but there are all more or less famous bands. Nota Bene: go to one of these shops if you want to buy more than one CD, since there are almost always discounts (buy 3 CDs with these stickers and the fourth CD with this sticker you will get for free; this CD with this sticker costs 12 euro, that CD with the same sticker costs 13 euro, and if you buy both CDs, you will pay only 20 euro, blah-blah-blah…).
In Helsinki one should visit three branches of this chain-store:
1. address: M4, Mannerheimintie 4 - the biggest one of them
2. address: Forum, Mannerheimintie 20 - this shop is located in Forum and you will hardly miss it wandering about. The only drawback: the shop area is very small and reminds more of a dump.
3. address: Asematunneli, Asema-aukio 1 - is situated in the center of Helsinki, in the Tunnel.
There is one more FreeRecord Shop within Helsinki boundaries but it is located in Itakeskus, which is rather far away from tourist places. Nevertheless, if you happen to be there, its address is - Itakeskus, Itakatu, 1 A.
And here you can find the addresses of FreeRecord shops in other towns across Finland: http://www.freerecordshop.fi/pages/shopoverview.asp

[Anttila]

www.anttila.fi

Anttila is a wide-spread chain of Finnish supermarkets (26 shops across the country). In each of them you can find a good music department. The range of CDs is wide and is every bit as good as in any other specialized shop. There are two supermarkets in Helsinki; both are located in the center of the city:
1. address: Kaivokatu 6. Working hours are 9.00 am-9.00 pm (weekdays), 9.00 am-6.00 pm (Saturday) and 12.00 pm-6.00 pm (Sunday). The music department is on the ground floor. You can get there through the famous Asematunneli (the tunnel between Rautatieasema and Forum).
2. address: Salomonkatu 13 (on the bus-station square, between Finn Kino and Ramada Presidentti hotel). Working hours are the same as above. The music department is on the ground floor, to the left of the main entrance.
Anttila supermarket addresses in other Finnish cities can be found here: http://www.anttila.fi/channels/default/etusivu/tavaratalot.html

The very first door is the shop entrance. It always has what you need and works even on Sunday.

If you came to the shop and Morticia herself is greeting you at the counter, lucky you! This lady is a very positive and considerate person.

The most fetishistic shop in Helsinki. It is situated right in front of Morticia's shop. A few years ago Sin City was a tattoo salon, whose owner is rumoured to make tattoos for Ville Valo. Now Sin City is a sex-shop. It is located right on one of the central streets of Helsinki; moreover its window is open and demonstrates "interesting" tools 24/7. Where is Finnish morality?;)

[Aikuisten lelukauppa]

koti.mbnet.fi/jjj

[Lippupalvelu]

www.lippupalvelu.fi

Another place for buying tickets in Finland. You will never buy tickets to Tavastia there, but its branches can be found in all big cities of Finland. Find their addresses here: http://www.lippupalvelu.fi/lippukaupat
